Oran W. Rowland letter, 22 July 1863.

This letter is from Oran W. Rowland, a 1st Sergeant in the 3rd Michigan Cavalry in LaGrange, Tennessee to his Aunt Sophia in Norwalk. The bulk of the letter centers on the capture of John Hunt Morgan, which he read about in the Cincinnati Enquirer. He also writes of the engagement in Jackson, Tennessee in which he refutes the exaggerated accounts of the battle. Included is a typescript of the letter.
